1:1 biometric matching

Compare two faces

Upload two images and get back how closely the faces match, as a score between 0 and 1.

  • Compares any two images containing a face
  • Returns a similarity score plus per-face detection confidence
  • 512-dimension face embeddings, the same ones Face Store searches

Free plan included — no card needed to try it.

Common questions

Is this the same person?

Upload both photos and the face comparison returns a similarity score for every pair of faces it finds, with a verdict of whether they are likely the same person. Treat it as a strong indicator rather than proof of identity: lighting, age, angle and image quality all move the score.

What does the facial similarity percentage mean?

The score measures how close the two faces are as the model describes them, on a scale from 0 to 1, shown as a percentage. The default match threshold is 0.75 — above it the faces are treated as the same person, below it as different. Two photos of one person can still land under it if one of them is badly lit or heavily angled.

Is the face comparison free?

Yes. Five comparisons every two days with no account at all, and 20 more operations when you create one. No card, and nothing recurring.

Do you keep the photos I upload?

Not for the demo. A comparison run without an account is held in memory only for as long as the models take to read it — it is never written to disk and never recorded against an account. Signed in, a run is saved to your own history so you can open it again.

Why does it say no face detected?

The detector found no face in one of the two images. The usual causes are a face too small in the frame, a steep angle, strong backlighting, or an illustration rather than a photograph. Cropping closer to the face and trying again normally fixes it.

Which image formats and sizes work?

JPEG, PNG and WebP, up to 5MB each. Larger photos are resized in your browser before they are sent, so a picture straight off a phone works without anything being done to it first.

Can I compare more than two faces at once?

Each run takes two images, and where either one holds several faces, every pair across the two images is compared and scored separately.

How is face comparison different from face recognition?

This is one-to-one: two photos you supply, scored against each other. Face recognition is one-to-many — a single photo searched against a collection you have enrolled.
